Akers, Catherine
Our community sadly lost a dynamic and compassionate member on July 21, 2022 when Catherine Akers passed away. Cathy was born on December 29, 1963 in Albuquerque, and spent her life as an active member of the community through her church life, family life, and career. Cathy proudly and courageously served her country for 28 years through the Army National Guard. She was a dedicated soldier, leader and mentor to her brothers and sisters in arms, who lovingly referred to her as " Mama Akers."
The Christian compassion and love that she exemplified in her career was consistent in every aspect of her life. Family and Friends could count on her in their time of need; she was always there to lend a hand, an ear or her truck. In her family life, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great aunt. She spent quality time with her children and grandchildren and supported them in whatever way she could. She was a wonderful caretaker who often put others' needs above her own. Her inner strength, grit, compassion, and determination in service of others will be sorely missed by everyone who was blessed to know her
Catherine is survived by her children Alicia Sisneros and Jessica Sisneros; grandchildren Victor Garcia, Angel Sisneros, Alejandra Sisneros, Damian DiFebo, Gabriel Malaney Lynch and Her brothers and sisters.
