It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Connie Jo Martinez, 76, on Friday, January 17, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 8,1948, in Albuquerque, NM to Felix and Rose Martinez. She was raised in the Wells Park Neighborhood close to her aunts, uncles and cousins. Connie was the second to oldest sibling of eight: Phillip, Pancho, Ernestine, Desi, Caroline, Marie and Joe. On September 30,1967, she married the love of her life, Harry Martinez, with whom she joyfully shared fifty years of marriage. A proud graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School, she went on to earn two master’s degrees from the University of New Mexico. She was an adult educator for 35 years at TVI in which she impacted many individuals through her unique style of teaching. She was known for creating long lasting relationships, demonstrated compassion, and strived to help others on their educational journey. Her passion for education and serving others was instilled in her children and grandchildren.
Connie enjoyed traveling the world, spending time at the casino, and making memories with friends and family. She was definitely one of a kind, a remarkable woman who always left an impression on those she met. She was a strong role model with exceptional work ethic who went above and beyond to provide for her loved ones. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, her legacy of kindness and devotion will remain with us always.
She is survived by her son Roman, daughter-in-law Alicia, daughter Rosette, son-in-law Ray, daughter Regina and son-in-law Diego; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by husband Harry and son Rick.
Connie’s celebration will begin with a viewing on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 5:00pm followed by a rosary at 6:00 pm at Garcia Mortuary-Chapel of Angels, 624 8th St SW 87102. Following the rosary, a eulogy will be read at 7:00 pm.
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, a viewing will be held at 10:00 am, a small eulogy to be read at 10:40 am, and mass at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW 87105. Following the services she will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE 87102. Reception to be held after burial at Loyal Order of Moose 2121 Edith Blvd. NE 87102.
