Connie Montano Nuanes

August 18, 1925 — August 19, 2024

Connie Nuanes, born August 18, 1925, was a woman of strength, grace and elegancy. Determined to be more than a wife or mother, as expected of women at the time, she graduated from Browning Business College. She then worked for the Kansas City Life Insurance Company as a secretary, and later at Sandia Corporation in the stenography pool with top secret clearance during WWII. In addition to her work accomplishments, she married and had four children. Over several years her husband, Danny Nuanes, would build their home from the ground up by hand. Connie took pride in cleaning, decorating and remodeling that house to utter perfection. She would later work for APS for 25 years until she retired to take care of her great granddaughter at the age of 70. Her children, granddaughter and great granddaughter became her entire world. She gave every ounce of her love to them all the days of her life. She never let a second of the day be wasted as she sewed rosettes, lace, frills and bows onto everything she could, cooked papitas, beans and chile, baked pumpkin and apple pies, ironed anything made of fabric, and cleaned any dirty surface. She faced any suffering or hardship with courage and faith, praying thousands of Novenas. She was determined to the very end, holding onto her life to celebrate one last birthday. Connie passed away in the comfort of her home on August 19, 2024, at 99 years young. Her firstborn son, Danito and her husband, Danny surely were the first to welcome her into heaven. She leaves behind sons, Gino and Robert Nuanes, a daughter Carol Sanchez, a granddaughter Kimberly Sanchez and great granddaughter Mikaela Salazar, who will miss her every day, but will remember to persevere just like she did. Her final words were a reflection of her continual love, “We had a good life”. The world couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful woman.

Pallbearers: Kimberly Sanchez, Anthony Candelaria, Donovan Phillips, Jesus Manquero, Mateo Manquero, John Romero
