Felipe Castro Vitela nació el 23 de agosto de 1960, de Juan y Ramona Castro en Ignacio Allende, Durango, México, donde también creció. Se casó con Alicia Martínez Alonso en 1980. Luego, él emigró a los Estados Unidos- Albuquerque, Nuevo México, para crear oportunidades para su familia en crecimiento. Felipe disfrutaba del trabajo duro y del béisbol, y siempre era más feliz escuchando música y bailando. Le encantaba crear recuerdos con su familia y tocaba muchos instrumentos. Él fue un fiel devoto de la Virgen de Guadalupe y el Santo Niño de Atocha, demostrándolo como matachín y tocando la tambora. Felipe era un abuelo dedicado que adoraba a sus hijos, nietos y sobrinos. Sus nietos eran su mundo, y su amor y esfuerzo siempre serán parte de nosotros. Todo lo que hizo fue para el bienestar de su familia. Fue muy amado y se le extrañará profundamente. Felipe fue precedido en la muerte por su amada esposa, Alicia Castro, y sus padres, Juan y Ramona Castro. Le sobreviven sus hijos, Víctor Castro y esposa Silvia, Ivón Castro y esposo Julian Mata, sus nietos Bianca Mata Castro, Emily Mata Castro, Brandon Mata Castro y Sofía Castro, sus hermanos Juan, Javier y José Castro, sus hermanas Mayela, María, Leticia y Norma Castro, y muchos queridos sobrinos. Los portadores del féretro son Juan Castro, Julian Mata, Víctor Castro, Porfirio Rodríguez, Juan Castro Jr. y José Castro Jr.   

Se llevará a cabo una velación el 30 de septiembre de 2024, de 5:30 p.m. a 6:30 p.m., seguida de un rosario de 6:30 p.m. a 7:00 p.m., y una vista final de 7:00 p.m. a 8:30 p.m. en la Morgue-Capilla de los Ángeles García ubicada en 624 8th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. 

El 1 de octubre de 2024, se llevará a cabo una velación de 10:30 a.m. a 11:00 a.m., seguida de una Misa de Entierro Cristiano a las 11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón, ubicada en 309 Stover Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. El entierro se llevará a cabo a las 12:30 pm, Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.

Felipe Castro Vitela was born on August 23, 1960, to Juan and Ramona Castro in Ignacio Allende, Durango, Mexico, where he was raised. He married Alicia Martinez Alonso in 1980, and they later immigrated to the United States- Albuquerque, New Mexico, to create opportunities for their growing family. Felipe enjoyed hard work and baseball, and he was happiest listening to music and dancing. He cherished making memories with his family and played various instruments. He was a faithful devotee of the Virgin of Guadalupe and the Holy Child of Atocha, demonstrating this as a matachín and playing the drum. Felipe was a devoted grandfather who adored his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. His grandchildren were his world, and his love and dedication will always be a part of us. Everything he did was for the betterment of his family. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Felipe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alicia Castro, and his parents, Juan and Ramona Castro. He is survived by his children, Victor Castro and wife Silvia, Ivon Castro and husband Julian Mata, grandchildren Bianca Mata Castro, Emily Mata Castro, Brandon Mata Castro, and Sofia Castro, brothers Juan, Javier, and Jose Castro, sisters Mayela, Maria, Leticia, and Norma Castro, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include Juan Castro, Julian Mata, Victor Castro, Porfirio Rodriguez, Juan Castro Jr., and Jose Castro Jr. 

A viewing will be held on September 30, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, followed by rosary from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm, and a final viewing from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at Garcia Mortuary-Chapel of Angels located at 624 8th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. 

On October 1, 2024, a viewing will be held from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 309 Stover Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Burial to follow at 12:30 pm, Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
