Albuquerque

George Antonio Romero, a dedicated husband, loving brother, US Army Veteran, and friend to many, passed away on November 19, 2023, at the age of 73 in Albuquerque, NM. Born on July 11, 1950, in Albuquerque, George led a life filled with accomplishments and cherished moments.

In 1970, George met the love of his life, Theresa Romero (formally Zamora), and the couple united in marriage in 1971. Over the course of their remarkable 52-year journey together, George and Theresa built a beautiful bond based on love, trust, and unwavering support. For more than four decades, they worked side by side to establish and nurture several successful businesses.

George's entrepreneurial spirit was evident through his ownership and operation of various ventures such as the Feed Store of Edgewood and Romero Lumber in both Albuquerque and Edgewood. He poured his heart into these enterprises, making them prosperous hubs within their respective communities. Beyond his professional endeavors, George possessed a deep affection for animals of all kinds. His home was host to horses, dogs aplenty, peacocks spreading their vibrant feathers, chickens scrambling with clucking delight, pigs rolling around playfully – the list goes on. Animals held a special place in George's heart.

Following his retirement in 2012, George found great joy in spending quality time with his beloved wife and cherished family members. The presence of his siblings Eleno Romero (Patricia “Patty" dec.), Peter Romero, Dennis Romero (Sandra), sisters Theresa Armijo (Henry), Mary Hart (Colin), along with uncles, aunts, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews brought immense happiness to his days. The sense of camaraderie shared among them created unforgettable memories that will be treasured forever.

George was preceded in death by his parents Jose J and Amalia Romero. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Theresa, who stood by his side for over five decades. Alongside her, George's legacy lives on through their 24 Godchildren, a testament to the profound impact he had on others' lives. Additionally, he leaves behind a network of friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

As an expression of love and respect, the following individuals will serve as pallbearers during George's final journey: Ramon Romero, Jerome Bustamante, Dennis Romero, Sal Zamora, Diego Zamora, and Patrick Zamora. The honor of an honorary pallbearer will be "Cloudy".
