Hilario Montaño

Age 75, passed away April 29, 2024. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 15, 1948 to Hilario and Helen Montaño.

Hilario “Lalo” “Ponpo” was a hardworking, kind and generous man. He was a plasterer throughout his career, but his greatest accomplishment and passion was his family. With his amazing wife Ida, they had their beautiful daughter which started the growing family of several grandchildren and five great grandchildren. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for any of his grandchildren from cheering the loudest at their games, to supporting their dreams and goals. He was the biggest supporter and motivator to insure his family was healthy, happy, and above all else, know they were loved. He also loved the Miami Dolphins and completing a yearly walk up to Santurio de Chimayo for his promesa.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hilario and Helen Montaño, his beloved wife of 36 years, Ida Montaño, and his sister Bonnie Archuleta.

Hilario is survived by his daughter Evelyn Medina and husband Joey; sons David Thompson Sr. and Roberto Mendez Jr.; grandchildren Stacie Thompson, Britney Noll and husband Vincent, David Thompson II and wife Dalia, Tyler Thompson, Joey Medina III, Isiah Mendez, Roberto Mendez, Roselyn Mendez, Angel Piña, Stefany Piña, Jesus Piña, Ramon Mendez, Miguel Ramirez, Aiden Gonzales; great grandchildren Nathaniel Noll, Skyler Thompson, Logan Noll, Zachariah Thompson and Arya Thompson; his sister, Eloisa Montaño; brothers Rudy Montaño, Danny Montaño and wife Lydia.

We will miss you every day, until we meet again.

Interment will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery following service at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Pallbearers are David Thompson II, Tyler Thompson, Isiah Mendez, Roberto Hilario Mendez, Roberto Mendez Jr. and David Thompson Sr. Honorary Pallbearer is Gerald Lucero.
