Ortiz, Jacinto
Jacinto Ortiz, our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend passed away on March 30, 2020 peacefully at home and surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Rowe, NM to Amalia and Atiliano Ortiz, Jacinto was the youngest of seven children. He was raised in Rowe and graduated from Pecos High School. After high school he joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 20 years and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. This child of Rowe traveled the world with the military, Lockheed, Boeing, and worked several years in the Middle East returning to New Mexico to finally retire after 15 years of Civil Service.
For Jacinto, family was first and foremost in his heart. Always willing to help without hesitation, anyone in need. He was selfless in his desire to ensure his family was always taken care of. This selflessness extended far beyond his children or siblings, but to his nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends as they too were a part of his large family to be revered and held dear.
Jacinto is survived by his children, Jacqueline Wagstaffe, Yvonne Lassiter Schott (Kevin), Joe Ortiz (Mia), and Jacob Ortiz; nine grandchildren; his brother Victor Ortiz and many beloved nephews and nieces.
Jacinto is preceded in death by his wife Loretta Ortiz; parents; siblings Ricardo Ortiz, Presciliano Ortiz, Evangelina Gonzales, Susie O. Varela, Felipita Ortiz and son-in-law Ray Wagstaffe.
Our father was a gentle man of great honor and integrity who never shied away from hard work. These values have been instilled in all his children.
