Ginn, Jimmie Ray
Age 75, passed away peacefully Friday, October 16, 2015. He was born in Harlan, KY on June 5, 1940, to Esmond and Claudia Ginn. Jimmie grew up in Birmingham Alabama, was in the US Navy during Vietnam era where he rode USS Talladega and both diesel and nuclear submarines. Jimmie belonged to the American Legion post 49, Fleet Reserve Association and VFW. Jimmie was a wonderful husband, father and granddaddy, who enjoyed cooking, fishing, scuba diving and was a gardener extraordinaire. He was a collector of rocks, fossils and trinkets, a connoisseur of good music, tequila and anything sweet.
Jimmie is survived by the love of his life and wife of 38 years, Virginia Ginn; children, Janie Marie Ginn, Jimmie Ray Ginn Jr., Joseph Pritchett, Julie Crockett, Ginia Olivas and husband, Abe; sisters, Margia Partain and husband, Charles, Bonnie Jean Hackney and husband, Jim; brother, Gerald Ginn and wife, Janie; his loving in laws, Ernest and Elena Duran; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a multitude of friends.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:30 am at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Committal will take place on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 2:15 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
