Jody unexpectedly passed away from his short battle with Covid 19 on Wednesday May 6, 2020.

Jody was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM.

Jody was born on January 15, 1971 to Julian Mares and Julia Martinez. Jody was the only son and big brother to five sisters. Jody grew into a strong, hardworking, young man. Jody worked as a med tech and had worked in the medical field for over 20 years. Jody loved his job and making his patients laugh. Jody was a fun, happy and beautiful person. Jody was the life of every party. Where ever there was laughter, there was Jody.

Jody is survived by his amazing and loving husband, Richard Loza-Mares; his loving son, Johnathan (Johno) Mares; father, Julian Mares (Mary Ristaino) and family; step-father, Marvin Czerwonka; grandparents, Betty (Randy) Norris; god parents, Louie and Helen Montoya; siblings, Joella (David) Michael, Jerome, and Jenessa Lopez, Jolena (Eric) and Mykal Anthony Gallegos, Juliana Mares (Leo) Juliet and Abriella, Jeanette (Anthony) Jayla and Jude Contreras and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

We will miss your cooking, your singing, your jokes, your laughter, your funny impressions, your funny faces and your photogenic smile. We will miss everything about you. Until we meet again in heaven. We love you!

Jody is preceded in death by his mother, Julia Czerwonka; sister, Janea Czerwonka; paternal grandparents, Sam and Josephine Mares and maternal grandfather, Candido Martinez.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels on the corner of 8th and Iron. Please join the family on zoom for services if you are unable to attend. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86393541176 meeting ID 863 9354 1176.
