Lucero, Jose  S. "Pops"
Age 70, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born in Los Ojitos, NM on May 2, 1945, to Jose and Otilia Lucero. He was valedictorian of his graduating class from Santa Rosa High School. Jose joined the Air Force and served state side during the Vietnam war, he was awarded the presidential unit award, good conduct award, national defense award and small arms expert award. Jose loved spending time with his grandkids, loved going to the casino to play the penny machines and watching the news.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Otilia Lucero; three brothers, Epitacio Lucero, Jose Inez Lucero and Jose Maria Lucero.
Jose  is survived by wife of 47 years, Felipa Lucero; children, Monica Lucero, Jose S. Lucero II and wife, Jamie, Erica Lucero; six grandchildren, Aaron Lucero, Alisa Lucero, Cailee Lucero, Lillian Lucero, Roman Romero, Luciano Lucero; two great grandchildren, Amariah Lucero and  Aaron Lucero Jr.; four brothers, Diego Lucero and family, Robert Lucero and family, Michael Lucero and family and Abran Lucero and family.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2016, 9:00 am - 10:00 am at  Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels on the corner of 8th and Iron, with a rosary at 10:00 am. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held after services at the family home. Interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to send a thank you to all our family and friends for your prayers and support.
