Joshua Daniel Benavidez was called home on July 21, 2020. Joshua was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 30, 1994. He was known for always having the brightest smile in the room and the biggest smile in any photo. His goofy personality could bring a smile to anyone’s face and would result in laughter and joy. Joshua’s smile was infectious and it was inevitable that he would bring out the happiness in anyone. He loved with his kind, selfless heart and his acts would show his generosity. He loved his football team, the 49ers, his best fur buddies Hyde and Smallz and spending time with his family. Most of all nothing wavered his faith and he was passionate about his love for God. We will see you again and be greeted with your big and bright smile.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Phillip Carrillo, his Nana Ermalinda “Merlie” Benavidez, and Freddie Martinez; his uncle David Carrillo; and his cousins, Issacc Castillo and Bobby Matthew Spedalieri.
Joshua survived by parents, Phillip and Eleanor Benavidez; his siblings, Jacob (and significant other Victoria Vigil), and sister Naomi Benavidez; his grandmother Dolores Carrillo; his uncles, Paul Carrillo, Dennis Carrillo (and significant other, Lorene Chavez), Michael Carrillo and Angelo Benavidez who is also his godfather; his aunts, Linda Moreno and husband Jaime, Deborah Carrillo; and Vanessa Laguna (and significant other, Eric Barela) and Stella Benavidez who are also his godmothers. Joshua survived by many great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels, 624 8th Street SW with a Prayer service to be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
