Age 93, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021. She was born in La Jara, NM on April 22, 1927. Lucinda was a devoted catholic , she devoted her time to the church by being a eucharist minister for the homebound, catechism teacher, leader of the Blue Army, blue Army cadets and volunteering time and love to community members living in nursing homes. Lucinda also ran and owned a business with her late husband for over 20 years. Lucinda managed this while still caring for her six children. Later she devoted her time to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Onecimo Chavez; parents, Andres and Merencia Maestas; children, Lucas Chavez and Brenda Marquez.
Lucinda is survived by her children, Joseph Chavez, Cynthia Benavidez and husband, Antone, Mark Chavez and significant other, Toni, Angelina Chavez and significant other, Ralph Jaramillo; grandchildren, Gilbert Marquez, Andres Benavidez, Rebecca Martinez, Lucas Brian Chavez, Andrew Medrano, Marissa Jaramillo, Desiree Jaramillo, Nevaeh Chavez, Eric Chavez; great grandchildren, Khloe Benavidez, Ava Baca, Onesimo Benavidez, Khloe Marquez, Xavier Martinez, Aubrey Martinez, Alexandria Martinez; siblings, Benny Maestas and Susie Segura.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels, 624 8th street SW. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 9:30 am with a Mass to follow at 10:00 am at San Felipe de Neri Church, 2005 North Plaza NW. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert Marquez, Andres Benavidez, Andrew Medrano, Lucas B. Chavez, Albert Segura and Raymond Lucero.
