Lugardita "Luggie" Montano, age 91, went to be with her Father in Heaven on Friday, May 1, 2015. She was born on December 29, 1923 and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM and an heir to the Atrisco Land Grant. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Montano; parents, Carlos and Rosalia; daughters, Frances and Marilyn. Luggie is survived by her children, Irene Montgomery, David Montano and wife Vicky, Linda Hines, Thomas Montano and wife Margaret, Carlos Montano; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Enrica Gonzales, and several nieces and nephews. She loved to sing, and sang in the Choir at Holy Rosary Church. Luggie also enjoyed sewing, bowling, and dancing. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Garcia Mortuary, Chapel of Angels, 717 Stover SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Road NW Albuquerque, NM 87105, with interment following at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Jimmy Montgomery, Steve Zamora, James Zamora, David D. Montano, Christian Mathias, Thomas Montano, Jr. and Carlos Montano, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are her granddaughters, Louise Holguin, Melissa McQuerry, Gina Moraga, Leah Butler, Pamela Salas, Lynn Saavedra, Linsay Hines, Kelly Cowham, and Christina Sandoval.
