Manuel Duran
June 19, 1959 ~ July 24, 2021
Manuel Duran was called home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2021. While his passing has brought great sadness to those who knew and loved him, may the memories of the love and laughter Manuel shared bring comfort to his family and friends, and may we celebrate the time we had with him. Manuel was born in Albuquerque on June 19, 1959 to parents Louis and Natalie Duran, and he proudly remained a lifelong Albuquerque resident. Manuel is preceded in death by his dad, Louis Duran, mother, Natalie Duran; brothers, Robert Duran and Henry Duran; nephew, Louis Duran. Manuel is survived by his eight siblings, Joe Duran and wife Liz Duran, Loretta Garcia and husband Greg Garcia, Daniel Duran, Michael Duran and Thelma, Elsie Duran, Diana Pacheco and husband Arturo Pacheco, Tony Duran and wife Judy Duran, Angela Byarlay and husband Stephan Byarlay; 11 nephews; six nieces and 27 great nephews and nieces.
Manuel was a simple man who lived his life to the fullest. He was known as Manny to most, and he always enjoyed having visitors at his home. He loved cruising on his electric scooter, loved his music, afternoon beers and smoke, and eating his beans and hot green chile. When his friends were leaving, he would always salute them with a "10-4". And of course, the standard reply was "4-10" . Those who were blessed to be in his presence will miss his giving nature, his laid-back personality and positive attitude no matter what challenges or struggles came his way. Manuel was quick to love and quick to forgive. Our time with Manuel feels much too short, yet we know he remains loved here on Earth, as well as in Heaven. While he was here, he was truly 'our Manny'. He will continue to shine his light on family and friends, as we continue to honor his memory until we are together again. Manuel will be tremendously missed by his many nephews, nieces and dear friends. The Duran family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to his beloved caregivers: Michelle Torres, Michelle Montoya and Sonia Hernandez, as well as the other caregivers and staff at Above All Personal Care Services and all of the family and friends who have supported them during this time of grief. Pallbearers will be: Michael Duran, Tony Duran, Mario Duran, Roy Ulibarri, Lorenzo Duran, and Robert Ulibarri. Honorary pallbearers will be: Javier Sarabia and Stephan Byarlay.
