GRIEGO, MARGARITO “MARGO”
Our beloved “POP”, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 16th, 2015 while surrounded by his loving family. Margarito was born on January 4th, 1923 to Luis and Emma Griego in the small community of Los Griegos in the Albuquerque North Valley. There he built, resided and passed away in his home of over 62 years. Margarito was preceded in death by his parents, brother Toby Griego and sister Lela Chavez. He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Lucy T. Griego; five beloved children, David Griego and wife Judy, Albert Griego and Lyndsay Kreznor, Dina Otero and husband Virgil, Reggie Sanchez and husband Leonard, Adam Griego and wife Sharon. Grandchildren; Kevin and Consuelo Silva Leifheit, Leo and Lydia Sanchez, Luis Otero and Kim Megah, Mario Otero and Stacie Delgado, A.J. Griego, John II and Danielle Servick, Gabriel Griego and Mariah Griego. Great-grandchildren; Issabella Silva, Jacob, Nathan and Brandon Sanchez, John III and Vivienne Servick, Kenzie Otero, Jasper Otero, Gianna and Joshua Griego and another one on the way! Sister-in-laws Annie Griego and Chona Madrid. Very special niece Eleanor Nogash and husband Jim and special cousin Stella Sandoval in addition to numerous nieces, nephews Goddaughters, Godsons and cousins. Pallbearers will be David, Albert and Adam Griego, Virgil Otero, Leonard and Leo Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are Luis and Mario Otero and A.J. and Gabe Griego.Margarito proudly served in the US Army with a regiment in the Philippines during World War II. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1985. Margarito was a loving husband, father and granddaddy and those who knew him will miss his character and loving manner with everyone. Margarito cherished his Catholic faith, family and his much-loved North Valley. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care of Margarito. Visitation and Rosary will be Thursday January 22nd, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (1860 Griegos NW) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. Interment following at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
