Maria Aurora Munoz de Jurado

Maria Aurora Muñoz de Jurado, passed away peacefully at her home on January 11, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by her beloved family. 

Aurora was born in a small town called Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Durango, Mx on November 6th, 1943. At the age of 16, she moved to Cd., Juarez, where she met her husband in 1959 and who she married for 61 years in 1963. They both migrated to the United States in 1976 and settled in their lovely humble home in Old Town Albuquerque, NM.

Aurora worked hard all her life! She did it all. She dedicated herself as a housewife, mom, grandma, by making things simple and easy and enjoyable. She cooked for her entire family from making homemade flour tortillas, tamales, calabecitas, mole, to exquisite mediterranean cuisine. She was a devoted Catholic who always believed in the power of prayer and helping others. She was a loving presence to her family, friends, neighbors, and anyone in need.

Aurora is survived by her husband Guillermo Jurado, siblings Leo Muñoz, Irma Fajardo, Fernando Muñoz, and Ruben Muñoz, children Guillermo Jurado Jr., Patricia Jurado, Lucy Bojorquez, Laura Jurado, Minerva Jurado-Perea, Myra Jurado, and Roberto Jurado, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and many god children to include Jessica and Jovani. She did it all!

Aurora is preceded in death by her siblings Maria Soledad Saeñz and Maria Elena Fierro, and her parents, Francisca Lara Cordova and Eladio Munoz Fryire.

May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her!

A viewing will be held on Thursday January 16th, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at Garcia Mortuary Chapel of Angels, located at 624 8th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. A rosary will be held following the viewing from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. 

A communion service will be held on January 17th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, located at 2005 N Plaza St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.

María Aurora Muñoz de Jurado, falleció pacíficamente en su casa el 11 de Enero de 2025 a la edad de 81 años, rodeada de su querida familia.

 Aurora nació en Felipe Puerto Carillo, Durango, Mx el 6 de noviembre de 1943. A la edad de 16 años, se mudó a Cd., Juárez, donde encountro su esposo de 61 anos de matrimonio. Ambos emigraron a los Estados Unidos en 1976 y se establecieron en su humilde casa de Old Town Albuquerque, Nuevo México.

 ¡Trabajó duro toda su vida! Lo hize todo! Se dedicó como ama de casa, haciendo las cosas simples y fáciles. Cocinaba para toda su familia, desde hacer tortillas de harina caseras, tamales, calabecitas, mole, hasta exquisita cocina mediterránea. Fue una católica que siempre creyó en la oración y en ayudar a los demás. Era una presencia amorosa para su familia, amigos, vecinos y cualquier persona necesitada.

 Sobrevive su esposo Guillermo Jurado. Los hermanos Leo Muñoz, Irma Fajardo, Fernando Muñoz y Rubén Muñoz. Hijos Guillermo Jurado, Jr., Patricia Jurado, Lucy Bojórquez, Laura Jurado, Minerva Jurado-Perea, Myra Jurado y Roberto Jurado. 15 nietos, 21 bisnietos. 4 ahijados incluyendo a Jessica y Jovani.

 Le preceden en la muerte sus hermanas María Soledad Saeñz y María Elena Fierro y sus padres, Fransica Lara Cordova y Eladio Muñoz Fraire.

El servicio se llevará a cabo el jueves 16 de enero de 2025, de 5:00 p.m. a 6:00 p.m., en la Capilla Mortuoria de los Ángeles de García, ubicada en 624 8th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Se llevará a cabo un rosario después de la visualización de 6:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m. 

Un servicio de comunión se llevará a cabo el 17 de enero de 2025, de 10:00 a.m. a 11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica San Felipe de Neri, ubicada en 2005 N Plaza St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104. El entierro se llevará a cabo en el cementerio Mt. Calvary ubicado en 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
