Mario D. Sarracino, born on January 29, 1950, died peacefully in his sleep on April 4, 2024, after a short battle with cancer.
Mario was a student athlete at St. Mary's Catholic High School and went on to graduate from UNM's School of Architecture. As an accomplished Registered Architect, Mario designed a wide variety of projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for more than 30 years. Earning a multitude of campaign coins for his work on disaster relief efforts, Mario was an award-winning U.S. Government Project Manager. Mario was also an avid traveler who loved sci-fi, cooking, and studying genealogy.
He is survived by his daughter Jaylene, grandchildren: Mariano (Chasity), Tatiana, Majalene, Julian and Logan (Bobby); 4 great-grandchildren; his ex-wife, Bertha; his Aunt Rosie and Uncle Ray, and many loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Josephine, his father Mario, son David, son-in-law Corey and other family members.
