Martha Consuelo Kavanaugh-Vigil
Connie passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Connie graduated from West Las Vegas High School on May 26, 1967. She moved to Denver, Colorado and worked with the City and County of Denver for twenty years. She retired and returned to Las Vegas, New Mexico (her old hometown). She worked at New Mexico Highlands University for ten years before leaving to take life easy. While working at Highlands University she ran into her High School Sweetheart, Alfonzo Vigil. They dated and married, and the rest is history. Connie loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a Die-Hard DENVER BRONCOS fan!! Connie lost the love of her life, husband, Alfonzo Vigil on December 21, 2020. They had just celebrated 20 years of marriage.
She is also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nicolas and Henrietta (Delgado) Kavanaugh; maternal grandparents, Miguel and Enenfora (Vigil) Patron; her parents, Joe I. and Dolores (Patron) Kavanaugh; sister, Maria Christina Kavanaugh-Wiggins; nephew, Tony Marquez Jr.; niece, Christina Marquez; brothers in law, James Wiggins, Bruce Gibbs and Antony Duran; several uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Connie is survived by her sisters, Carmen Valdez-Gibbs from Las Vegas, New Mexico, Geraldine Duran from Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, J. Michael Kavanaugh from Las Vegas, New Mexico; several nephews and nieces and a very special friend and sister, Helen (Coca) Sandoval from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 02, 2023 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, New Mexico. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will take place at a later date. Connie did not want a Rosary and there will not be a reception after. Thank you.
