Chapman, Mary Senaida
Mary Senaida Chapman, age 85, passed into glory, peacefully in her sleep in her family home on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Senaida was born on October 19, 1936, to her mother, Teresita C. Tafoya and her father, Telesfor Tafoya. She attended St. Vincent's Catholic School. At the age of 20, she married her childhood flame, Paul Chapman, and they started a beautiful life together and spent a further 64 years happily married and teamed for good.
They had a passion for traveling together anytime they could (Paul preceded Senaida into glory, February 2021) Senaida's favorite hobbies included gardening with an intuitive green thumb, sewing, and crochet. She leaned into reading scripture with family, praying, shopping, sampling sweets, selling chili, and watching movies. Many would enjoy her playful side. Senaida, a vigorous woman, invested her time thinking about and helping others.
She frequently went out of her way to help the local Men's and Women's Homes served by the Christian community. She was always ready to reach out her hand to offer prayer for someone in her neighborhood and served as an influential Christina Leader within the statewide and global Christian community. She served at Crusades within NM; hosting world renowned ministers and mentoring the younger generation to serve God with gladness.
She is survived by her two wonderful daughters, Karen Dow (husband Dwight), and Jody Chapman (Eddie Gutierrez), her 9 precious grandchildren; Ebony Sonnenberg, Christina Dow, Michelle Perez, Amber Baptista (husband Daniel), Jonathan Dow (wife Christina), Amaris Cortez (husband Fernando), Vania Gutierrez, Gloria Gutierrez, Andres Gutierrez (wife Marissa), and 18 dearly loved great grandchildren; Everest, Joshua, Alexis, Amara, Paul, August, Aurelio, Elizabeth, Austin, Jade, Everett, Wyatt, Isabella, Moriah, Jodon, Kayla, Zechariah and Zuria.
"She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy."
