Richard Cortez,76, he was called home to be reunited with his wife, Lita Cortez on February 18, 2016. He fought a long battle with Alzheimer's for several years. He spent his last days with family and close friends by his side. Richard was a loyal servant and employee to the City of Albuquerque from where he retired. He graduated from Valley High School, and was a faithful fan to NMSU. He was married to his wife for 54 glorious years, and loved to spend his free time watching his sons play baseball. He will be greatly be missed and always remembered. He was survived by five brothers and four sisters; two loving sons, Mike Cortez and wife, Martha, Rick Cortez and daughter in law Tina Cortez; five grandchildren, Noah and wife, Marisela, Michelle and fiancée, Ray, Tabatha, Miranda and husband, Ricardo, Chasity and Lawrence; nine great grandchildren who will always remember the memories they had with there great grandpa. A special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and his caregivers Cynthia, Sylvia and Lisa for the dedication and love they showed him. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday February 26, 2016 at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels on the corner of 8th and Iron. Communion Service will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday February 27, 2016 at St. Anne's Catholic church,1400 Arenal S.W., burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith N.E.
