Garcia, Romelia (Romie)

On Sunday morning, December 1, 2019, our loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away to be with our Lord in heaven. Romie was born on March 12, 1929 in Willard, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Alejandro and Jesusita Maes and was one of nine children. Of the nine, she has one surviving sibling, Rachel Almaraz. Romie lived in Torreon, New Mexico from 1939 to 1944 when she moved to Albuquerque to attend school. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1949. She is survived by her loving husband, Severo Garcia, whom she married in 1950. Severo and Romie raised five children that were the joy of her life: Carmen Marrone (Ray), Arthur Garcia (Melinda), Steve Garcia (Doris), Christine Maher (Michael), and Judy Garcia. Their youngest child, Judy, entered eternal life in heaven December 25, 2015. Romie has ten surviving grandchildren: Jennifer Donaldson, Stephanie Garcia, Danielle Fichera, Nichole Maher, Ryan Maher, Lorianna Marrone-Sena, Killian Garcia, Matthew Garcia, Christopher Garcia, and Dominic Garcia. She also has two great grandchildren, Kevin Chavez and Lennox Donaldson.
Romie will be missed by all but we can find comfort in knowing that she felt blessed and loved life. This was reflected in her faithful and active life of service to the Lord, his church and others . She felt blessed in every way. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 from 6:00-7:00 pm, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels, on the corner of 8th and Iron. Her funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, December 10th at 9:00 AM at St. Therese Parish, 3424 Fourth St NW, Albuquerque. Reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus, 2800 San Mateo Blvd. NW #111.
