Rosalind Louise Chavez, lovingly known as Rosie was born on October 30, 1942, to Geronimo and Anita Chavez in Polvadera, New Mexico. Rosie attended Rio Grande High school where she would meet the love of her life, Blas Chavez. They went on to marry in 1963 and raise their family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Rosie worked as a librarian for the State of New Mexico for many years. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and lived her life for her grandchildren. Rosie enjoyed camping, quilting, crocheting, sewing, bingo, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents Geronimo and Anita Chavez, husband Blas Chavez, daughter in law Ernestine Chavez, grandsons Leonard Chavez and Eric Chavez, and many siblings.
She is survived by her children Blas J. Chavez Jr., Gloria Roybal and husband Robert, Lawrence Chavez and wife Norma, Yvette Baros and husband Benjamin, grandchildren Blas J. Chavez III, Janet Roybal, Lawrence J. Chavez Jr., Robert J. Roybal Jr., Samantha Baros, Jonathan Chavez, Donavin Chavez, Benjamin Baros Jr., Andres Chavez, Antonio Chavez, and Monica Roybal, great grandchildren, Czarina Chavez, Mystique Chavez, Abigale Chavez, Rafael Chavez, Nickolas Nestor, Mariano Baros, Rozlyn Grace Roybal, and siblings Rachael Hutchinson, Edward Chavez, and Priscilla Chavez. Rosie, until we meet again.
Pall bearers: Blas J. Chavez III, Lawrence Chavez Jr., Robert J. Roybal Jr., Benjamin Baros Jr., Jonathan Chavez, and Donavin Chavez.
Honorary pall bearers: Antonio Chavez and Andres Chavez.
A viewing to be held September 17, 2024, at 8:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 562 Atrisco Dr SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 am. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 am. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetary, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102 at 10:30 am.
