Severo Garcia Obituary

 

Severo Garcia passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 11, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born on October 20, 1925 in Manzano, New Mexico. He moved to Albuquerque in 1949 and married his forever wife, Romelia, in 1950. He  graduated from Highlands University and was a veteran of WWII and The Korean Conflict. He retired from the Post Office in 1980 after 33 years of service. Severo was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Lamy Council) and the Post 13 American Legion. He was also an active member of St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church.

 

Severo was known for his sharp wit and sense of humor. He liked telling stories about the old country. He was a great family historian since he could remember the dates of everyone’s birthday, wedding and funerals. He had a strong faith in God and wanted to be remembered as a kind and friendly man who wanted the best for his family and everyone he met. 

 

Severo is survived by his two sisters Dora Espino and Estella Eras, two daughters, Carmen Marrone (Ray) and Christine “Tina”Maher (Michael) and two sons, Arthur Garcia (Melinda) and Steve Garcia (Doris), ten grandchildren, Jennifer Donaldson (Jed), Lorianna Sena (Marc), Matthew Garcia, Christopher Garcia, Dominic Garcia, Stephanie Kirk (Brian), Danielle Fichera (Chris), Nichole Maher, Ryan Maher, Killian Garcia and five great grandsons, Kevin Chavez, Lennox Donaldson, Noah Fichera, Jaxon Sena, Seger Kirk and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Celedonia Garcia, Romelia (Romie) Garcia, his beloved wife of 69 years and his daughter Judy Garcia.

 

A Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 6:30-7:00 pm followed by a rosary at Strong Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE. A funeral mass will be held on March 24, 2023 at 9:00 am at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Church located at 3424 Fourth St. NW followed by a reception at the church gym. Severo will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Church.
