Shirley Vigil, born July 22, 1945, in Grants, NM, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 79. A beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Educator, Shirley’s warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Shirley dedicated over 30 years of her life to the field of education, with a focus on special education. She was a passionate advocate for her students and found great joy in helping them reach their fullest potential.
Family was the center of Shirley’s world, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Shirley’s personality was one of a kind. Her infectious smile could light up any room, and her sharp wit and directness were part of what made her so memorable. Whether through laughter or her honest words, Shirley never left a conversation without leaving a lasting impression. She had a love for music that often filled the air around her, creating joyful moments wherever she went.
Shirley is survived by her beloved daughter, Sondra Ramirez, and her grandson, Anthony Griego, and her eldest brother, Paul Vigil. Shirley also leaves behind many other beloved family members who will forever hold a special place in her heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to family and education. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
