Martinez, Theresa
On May 24, 2023 at the age of 83, Theresa Martinez passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren.
Theresa was born on April 19, 1940 and raised in Albuquerque, NM, daughter of Apolonio Chavez and Elvira Aragon. Theresa had the most infectious smile and best sense of humor endearing her with so many friends. Theresa enjoyed working for APS because of the many kids she met and affectionately called her “the snack bar lady “. Theresa’s passions were her family, visiting with Priscilla and Joe or visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was so proud of every one of them. Mama, we know you’re with daddy now, enjoying “the stroll”. Theresa was married to Armenio T. Martinez until his death in May of 1999.
She is survived by her four daughters, Elvira Duran (husband Nathan) Joanne Cantrall (husband Tom) Suzette Kent (husband Ric) Ruby Jaramillo (husband Steve). She had eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and many many relatives.
A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 6:00pm at Strong Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 9:00 am at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 3424 4th Street NW. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Duran, Thomas Cantrall, Ric Kent, Bryan Jaramillo, Daniel Jaramillo and Adam Ornelas. Honorary Pallbearers will be TJ Cantrall, Steve Jaramillo, Bryan Trujillo, Julian Trujillo, Zachary Allan and Joey Jaramillo.
